Scientific - Ultra Low Temperature (ULT) Freezers and LN2 tanks
IoT solutions have seen widespread adoption within scientific industry. One clear-cut requirement is storing high value assets in suitable environments such as vaccines or scientific research reagents in low temperature freezers or LN2 tanks. Seraphin is a reliable and trusted Ultra Low Temperature Monitoring System already adopted by major scientific institutions.
Challenge
Ensure a scientific reserach asset is preserved in a low temperature environment of -80°C. Alert the owner of the asset if the temperature in the environment starts rising, by the way of sending an SMS and initiating a phone call containing information about the affected asset.
Solution
A sensor installed to monitor the low temperature environment and configured to emit temperature readings at regular time intervals. The sensor is onboarded to Seraphin IoT Wireless Monitoring and Telemetry solution and the platform has a rule configured that triggers a SMS and phone call alert if the temperature reported by the sensor rises above -80°C.
Seraphin IoT Wireless Monitoring and Telemetry platform has been trusted by the scientific community to monitor high value assets in low temperature environments e.g. in Ultra Low Temperature Freezers and LN2 tanks. The IoT based networks deployed at scientific research laboratories have proved to be extremely reliable, demonstrating robustness in often secluded areas and 100% delivery ratios. Since the connectivity between the IoT devices and the cloud cannot be always guaranteed - as LAN networks, as well as cellular networks may fail - Seraphin IoT is proactively monitoring every sensor therefore if the reading does not arrive on time for whatever reason, this is logged on the system and the client is made aware that the cloud software failed to recently obtain a reading from the sensor. This proactive monitoring of the sensors by the cloud software makes the platform extremenly reliable and trusted by the clients.
